WordPress installation Directory is not empty

WordPress provides several quick install and auto installer using which you can easily install WordPress on your machine. Since it seems the fastest way to download WordPress many users try it. But then they face the error which says installation directory is not empty. It is a very common error among WordPress users. WordPress Help has summed up some ready-made solutions for this problem which are listed below.

1 ) First, you need to check that whether the directory in the domain or subdomain option of File manager which is there in control panel is empty. You must remember here that when you try to launch file manager from control panel you have checked the ‘show hidden files in control panel’ option from a pop-up window that appears in between.

Then you may try to rename the old folder and create a new folder with the same name which is just a blank folder. Next, you can try to install WordPress again.

2 ) The second method tells you to map your domain or subdomain to a new location or a new empty folder. This new folder must be created in the file manager. Then you go back to the root directory and modify its root folders in such a way that it points towards the new empty directory.

3 ) You can also delete or add domain and subdomain. While creating or adding a new domain and subdomain folder remember to create a new empty folder and assign the document root folder to it.

It is important to note that the primary domain folder of WordPress is located in public .html folder it’s a factory default and you can’t change it. So, if you install WordPress with the primary domain you may encounter above error. And in this case, you need to delete the root folder which was mentioned above.
